Mass Hardware Clean-Up on the way!
May 6, 2008 11:30 pm Ubuntu, Gentoo, Microsoft Windows, LinuxMy kids have been bothering me for a while to give them one of my laptops so that they can play their Internet (webkinz… or something like that) and local games.
Well I finally decided that it is time for me to give them this. So today I went on mass overhaul of my systems here.
Here are the systems and what they are going to be running.
- Work Laptop running Gentoo
- Desktop System (Windows XP SP2) - For those times that I need to use IE.
- Server OS (Linux) - Vmware Server with (Linux on Vm)
- Kids Laptop (P3 600 Mhz with 384 Mb Memory) - Windows XP SP3
- Gaming Laptop Dual Boot Windows / Linux
- Acer Laptop (P4) - Ubuntu Hardy
- Compaq Laptop (P3) - Gentoo
- HP Desktop (P4) - Gentoo
Now I know they hardware is dated (besides the Server and the Work Laptop) but I am using them for testing mostly. On Gentoo will set-up distcc to run on the Ubuntu Work Laptop to speed up the compiling.
As I type this I am finishing up the install of XP Sp3 on the Kids Laptop. Then that will probably be it for tonight as I am ready to go to sleep.
