Cell Phone Switch to Sprint
March 8, 2008 2:23 am GeneralSo I have changed to SPRINT as the Cell Phone Carrier and some things are bad and some things are good. First the interesting part is that SPRINT can not get a number port correct. It is now eight (8) days that I have switched to Sprint and the funny thing is that it will be another five to seven days before they get the number port correct. It is a bit of a pain but on the other hand I am able to manage utilizing simulated ringer on my business phone.
Now enough with the gripes, and here is the good thing. The Sprint network is fast, I was using Helio phone before and they were using Google for the translation to the mobile screen and it was fast, faster then AT&T that I used to have before. Now that I am using a Sprint Pocket PC phone (Mogul) and I am going direct on the web pages, and all I have to say is WOW!!!! Here are some of the results from DSL Reports using my Mobile Phone:
200K Files = 348 Kbit/sec with 0.519s latency
400K Files = 551 Kbit/sec with 0.446s latency
1 Mb = 695 kbit/sec with 0.471s latency
This is with only 3 Bars of voice and high speed Access (EVDO). There is a ROM for the mogul that takes the SPRINT high speed access to the highest speed (EVDO A), since this is not an official ROM I am going to skip it for now since the speed is great as is, and since I have been told by Sprint 3rd Level support that a new ROM is due out in a month or two.
Even without the ROM I have to say that this speed at 3 bars is still amazing, and I am extremely happy.
