Question: What software do you need to implement Getting Things Done?
The answer is simple you can use whatever you want to implement Getting Things Done as it can be implemented by a number of software out there.
What I have found though in my experience is that creating a trusted system is very useless if you can not carry it around with you. Having been involved with PocketPC or now as it is called Windows Mobile Systems since 1998 I have been working on trying to incorporate them as a trusted system.
Question: Why are PDA’s and Mobile Phones with capabilities a good system?
Because you can take EVERYTHING with you. I have worked out a way where everything comes along with me and my GTD System.
Question: Why a Pocket PC?
I guess it is my preference for using one. I have been using PDA’s for quite some time and when I moved to the Sprint HTC Mogul phone it just seemed natural that I start using it. Can I use other things, I am sure that most of the systems can be used as a trusted system, and anytime someone wants to send me a new phone such as iPhone or the Android phone or even the semi crippled BlackBerry I can work on figuring out the best system for the device.
Software Required:
Pocket Informant:
As I mentioned above the system can be created with any software, but what I have found is that the Task and Calendar manager called Pocket Informant provides the best functionality and flexibility for creating a system. The particular version that is needed to get all the functionality is 8.0+ of Pocket Informant.
Pocket Information can be downloaded as a 30 day demo from WebIS.
Other Software:
I am working on finding other software that will enhance the system, and I am trying out new software all the time. If you have a suggestion on the software to use with the system, please let me know so that I can try to incorporate it and then let everyone know about its use.
