Funambol Outlook Synchronization
Author: BlueKnightThe funambol outlook plug-in is a way to synchronize the Outlook system with my.funambol.com. Outlook as a mail client is horrible but as an address book it contains a lot of options that are helpful in keeping the addresses in check. I use it as a storage repository for addresses, notes from my PDA, and even as a Calendar.
For my main purpose I use Google Calendar as the calendar engine, but I installed Google Calendar synchronization so that everything is synchronized to outlook. I will go in to more details at a later post but the Outlook plug-in provides another place to keep your calendar if you want. If you do not want, you can skip the synchronization of the calendar by disabling it in the options.
After the client is downloaded and installed you must go to the Tools menu of the Funambol Outlook Sync Client.
After the Options are opened you need to fill out the account information for the account at my.funambol.com. Then go in to the synchronization setting and enable the encryption option. This option is important for security as it will make sure the information is not available for anyone who is monitoring the connections.
Please see the screen information below:
After the configuration of the options go ahead and Synchronize the information. For the first time my recommendation is to synchronize each of the areas separtely Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes. This will provide safety in case something goes wrong with a particular module during synchronization.
After the synchronization is over you can log in to the my.funamboll account and see if everything transferred correctly.
